For the period of 2004–2009, David was awarded a $5000/year academic institutional scholarship by Carleton University.

In 1981, David was awarded a $1500 Alexander Rutherford Scholarship by the government of Alberta  for academic excellence in high school (grades 10, 11 & 12).
